October 3, 2014
Hi and welcome to the Goldstone Financial Groups Blog post for Friday October 3, 2014. The entire month of October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages. The other morning I was watching the Today Show with my wife before I left for work and I saw TV Host Joan London. She was talking about her battle with breast cancer and spoke of the need to have an advocate, someone to encourage you and help you with the important decisions involved in fighting this terrible disease. At the Goldstone Financial Group, I feel that we take on that position… the position of an advocate in financial planning. I look at us as someone you can trust to walk with you through this process of securing your financial future. Just as it is in breast cancer, every person is different. When we sit down with you we start the process of learning as much about you as a doctor would about a patient. With financial planning we want to know all about your hopes and dreams for the future. Think about it…if we didn’t establish a base line on who you are..we would be like a doctor who see’s you as a patient but has absolutely no idea of what’s wrong with you and how to treat you but goes ahead and prescribes some medicine. How absurd! Just as in treating breast cancer, there are many options available to us as financial advisors. Maybe you are planning on working up until you’re 70…or maybe you want to exit the day to day work world at 60. Those are two different scenario’s and require two different approaches. Fighting breast cancer is a life and death battle and dealing with retirement is an entirely different matter but your decisions at the beginning of both can have lasting implications on your future. Just as in dealing with breast cancer where the sooner you begin the process of treatment the better the results…retirement planning is the same. At the Goldstone Financial Group here’s our challenge to you. If a friend or a member of your family hasn’t gone through a routine breast exam, for whatever reason, be an advocate. Encourage and lead them in the right direction. I can’t tell you the number of clients we’ve had that after it was all said and done have come in and expressed such emotional gratitude for taking those important early steps with them before their retirement. Being a financial planner in the Chicagoland area has offered me the greatest level of satisfaction I could have ever expected in my career choice. Helping people…that’s really all I do. Developing a plan to secure your financial future is not complicated, really. The hard part is just getting people to come in for their financial screening. Unlike a doctor, we don’t charge for this exam…it’s FREE and there’s no obligation. At the Goldstone Financial Group we want to be your advocate and we encourage you to help fight breast cancer with a donation today to the American Cancer Society. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and please feel free to pass it on to family and friends alike.
